I enjoyed many recordings of classical music I heard in China.
This is not the exception but not at the top of the list is.
The basic concept was this collection center on the theme of bamboo. The title refers not only as a poetic image, but to really describe the content.
All topics are related to bamboo, "Reading his heart's Bamboo" to "Singing Bamboo In light of the moon. "
In addition, the wind instruments used are made of bamboo, and there are ten types used here: di, Xiao cheng, Chinese flutes guan-zi, wu-ba, koo-xian, Mon-sheng, the bamboo leaves and hu-lu-si. Some of them are Chinese traditional and others are from other ethnic groups.
The two most common are bamboo flutes from China, and Di Xiao.
Di music very common and popular in China. It resembles a flute. It comes in two varieties common: the boom-command that is soothing and gentle and that the command has a high pitch.
The Xiao (or Dong-xiao) bamboo is usually purple, yellow and shriveled bamboo or white. Their sound is soft, low tone, and is commonly used at concerts.
The sheng is very old, dating from the early years of Chinese civilization. It is essentially a collection of bamboo flutes of various lengths together.
Bamboo is closely linked with music in Chinese. They use the term "zhu if" – silk and bamboo – to describe musical instruments and music.
It would be interesting to know where this music was performed. The booklet included with the CD is not very useful. A producer is old enough to have graduated from college in 1962. Then went to study music at the College Art Fujiang – and their biological rest periods. During the Cultural Revolution did spend ten years in a pig farmer learning? Is this the official music sanctioned by the Communist Party of China as Mao's life? We are not told.
The other producer, however, seems certain credits related to Buddhism, by what means it is a product of post-Mao (although the current regime does not favor a religion.)
The flaw in this collection is that all tracks are designed to produce an ambience reflecting the peace and tranquility of a forest of bamboo. They are slow and silent. Beautiful in themselves, taken one by one, but after a while you start to want a little variety, a little contrast.
This is a good CD to play when you just want to relax and escape to space. It will not begin to dance, but it is more convincing than the usual New Age people buy things.
Prepare to be mitigated if not particularly entertaining.
