XBOX 360 hd-dvd Drive query.?
Gamestation was selling some HD-DVD drive add ons for the XBOX 360 for £25 with 2 free brand new HD films.
My TV is 1080i but looking at the movie cases it mentions that it supports 1080p and in the special features says 480p with no mention of 1080i support.
Do all HD-DVD’s support 1080i or 720p.
I know its a dead format but I only want it so that I can upscale my huge Dvd Collection. The gentleman in the Gamestation shop was very unhelpful, probably thinking im some dumb blonde and wouldn’t understand!!
Contrary to what the other poster said….it will support 1080i. The HD-DVD movies will be displayed at a native 1080p resolution. This is the maximum, BUT if your tv supports 1080i, it will just downscale it to the highest resolution that your tv supports. So going from 480p to 1080i is still a huge difference over regular DVD, and will make your Dvd Collection great! A lot of special features are included at regular definition resolution (480i/p) and unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do about that 
But definately, be aware that HD-DVD is a dead format, but will make an excellent upscaler! And for that price, it’s cheaper than buying a standalone upconverting DVD player.
